Mariachi Los Arrieros and Ballet Folklorico de Tradicion y Cultura Return to El Pescador

(Laredo, Tx)- Mariachi Los Arrieros will be performing every friday evening at Mariscos El Pescador Del Sur starting today at 9:30p.m.  They will be accompanied by Ballet Folklorico de Tradicion y Cultura which is directed by Mrs. Carmen Rendon.  Los Arrieros and Tradicion y Cultura headlined the 15 de Septiembre Celebration at El Pescador two weeks ago and will be returning at the request of patrons of the restaurant.   The performance is an hour long energetic show and is free to the customers of El Pescador no reservation is required but it …

TAMIU Hits Record 7000+ Enrollment, Welcomes New Chancellor

(Laredo, Tx)-  Jordan M. Gibson made history Thursday at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU).   The junior marketing major and member of TAMIU’s Men’s Golf Team from Painted Butte, Alberta, Canada, is the 7000th student of a record 7,039 students enrolled at TAMIU this Fall.
Gibson and fellow TAMIU students were joined by the new Texas A&M University System Chancellor, John Sharp, who helped cut a commemorative cake to welcome the University’s record class, a 2.71% increase over last Fall’s 6,853 students.  Sharp, who became Chancellor Sept. 6, is touring …

Phil Wilson Selected to Lead Texas Department of Transportation

AUSTIN – During their regular monthly meeting Thursday, the Texas Transportation Commission selected Phil Wilson as the Texas Department of Transportations (TxDOT) 19th executive director, effective October 17, 2011. Wilson currently serves as senior vice president of public affairs for Luminant, an electric generation company headquartered in Dallas, and previously served as Texas Secretary of State.
As secretary, Wilson was responsible for elections and acted as the governors chief liaison on the Texas-Mexico border and issues with Mexico. He has also served as Chairman of the Governors Competitiveness Council, where …

CBP Officers at Del Rio Port of Entry Arrest Midland Man Wanted on Warrant for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child Under 14

 DEL RIO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry this week apprehended a West Texas man wanted on an outstanding warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14.  The apprehension occurred on Sept. 29, 2011 at Del Rio International Bridge . A CBP officer referred a 1998 Cadillac carrying passenger Sergio Gool, a 36-year-old male Mexican citizen from Midland , Texas for a secondary examination.
