Ricardo Molina 01-08-85

On Monday July 20, 2009 at approximately 9:18 a.m. Laredo Police Communication received a 911 call from a residence at the 1500 block of Wilfrano Dr.  Once Officers arrived at the scene they knocked and rang the doorbell and no one answered. Officers checked the home from the outside of the residence looking through the house windows. One of the officers looked through a window and observed a man. Once the man saw that it was Laredo Police officers he opened the front door. The victim told officers that he had just been robbed.  Officers cleared the residence in case the suspect was still inside the home.

Detectives interviewed the victim who then stated that about 8:40 a.m. a male suspect rang his doorbell.  The man asked the home owner if he could use his bathroom, the victim then let the suspect into his home and was allowed to use the hallway bathroom. When the suspect exited the bathroom he was wearing a black ski mask and was holding a machete and a kitchen knife. He told the victim to lie on the floor. The assailant then tied him up with duck tape wrapping his arms and legs. The suspect then asked him if he had any money; the victim told the suspect that he did not have any money. The suspect picked up the victim and placed him in the Master bedroom along with his two young children, ages 21 months and 6 months.

The victim stated that he heard the suspect go from room to room looking for what he believes was money. After some time had passed the victim did not hear the suspect anymore then dials 911.

The victim told detectives that he had seen the suspect back in May selling vacuum cleaners around the neighborhood. Detectives followed up that lead and came up with the name of a suspect, Richard Molina, 01/08/1985.  A search warrant of the suspect’s home recovered the machete and knife used in the robbery.

On July 24, 2009 at approximately 11:15 a.m. a warrant of arrest was obtained for Richard Molina DOB: 1/8/09 for AGGRAVTED ROBBERY F/1, at approximately 11:40 a.m. Inv. Cantu served Molina with said warrant at Webb County Jail where Molina was already under arrest for an unrelated charge.  His bond was set at 250.000.00 by Judge R. Veliz.
