CBP Officers at Laredo Port of Entry Seize $213,000 in Methamphetamine

 LAREDO, TEXASU.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry this week seized methamphetamine valued at $213,000 from a vehicle driven by a Georgia man. The seizure occurred on Sept. 21, 2010 during a routine examination at Lincoln-Juarez Bridge . A CBP officer referred a 2000 Ford F-150 pickup driven by a 39-year-old male Mexican citizen from Norcross , Georgia for a secondary examination. During the examination, CBP officers discovered seven bundles containing a total of 14 pounds of methamphetamine hidden within the vehicle. CBP officers also discovered that the man had an outstanding warrant from Florida for the arrest of the man.

 CBP officers turned the driver over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation and seized the narcotics and vehicle.

 “Our officers remain ever vigilant as they conduct their examinations and this significant seizure of methamphetamine is a testament to their inspections skills, training and experience,” said Gene Garza, CBP Port Director, Laredo . “This seizure underscores CBP’s commitment to keeping our border communities safe and secure.”
