The City of Laredo hired Kell Munoz Architects out of San Antonio “for professional services in the development of a Downtown Master Plan.” Kell Munoz Architects will assist the City of Laredo in developing a vision for the downtown that features a viable mix of residential, commercial, retail, dining, entertainment and public space uses, which integrate mobility in a workable environment that enhances Laredo’s economy, quality of life and sense of place.
Kell Muñoz will host a series of as public meetings to solicit input from Laredo about their expectations for downtown. Tomorrow night’s meeting is the second of three planned public meetings, seeking ideas and hoping to understand what Laredoans want to see in their downtown. Additionally, the firm developed a website, www.rediscoverlaredo.com, which invites members of the Laredo community to participate in a survey to see what kind of elements they would like to see as part of the plan. The website will have other features of the plan, as well.
After soliciting input and developing various urban models and examples from comparative cities and towns, they will form different scenarios, finally presenting one final preferred scenario in about six months.
The public is invited to attend this meeting to give input about their downtown Laredo.
