In an effort to collect fines totaling close to 10 million dollars, Webb County has implemented a Justice of the Peace Amnesty Program in an attempt to collect on outstanding fines.
This week, a total of 2,000 postcards were mailed from the Justice of the Peace offices to the top offenders reminding them of their outstanding citations. Recipients of the postcards are being advised that the postcard serves as a final notice and possible warrants for arrest of any outstanding citation. Failure to respond to the notice could result in the violators arrest at their place of employment or residence.
Anyone who has received a citation or ticket in Webb County and has not paid their fine can search the County’s website at www.webbcountytx.gov for their citations and instructions on how to take care of the outstanding balance(s).
Justice of the Peace offices and phone numbers are listed on the website.
Offenders who do not pay any citation by October 1, 2010 will be subject to an additional 30% fine and subject to arrest.
