Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Two on Aggravated Assault Charges

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Wednesday, September 1st, 2010, at approximately 9:15 a.m., Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies executed two felony warrants for the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Arrested without incident was Jose Andres Gongora Jr., 27 years of age, and Juan Gabriel Olvera, 32 years of age. The investigation was initiated on August 23rd, 2010 by the Webb County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division, when Deputies responded to a call at a convenience store on Espejo Molina road where two individuals stated they were threatened. Sheriff’s Deputies immediately initiated an investigation which led to the arrest. Both Gongora and Olvera were charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a felony 2 offense. They were transported to the Webb County jail where both individuals were issued a $75,000 bond.
Sheriff Cuellar stated that when violent crimes are reported to the Webb County Sheriff’s Office the cases are placed on a priority list to help keep victims safe and rid the streets of these criminals as soon as possible.
