Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies Seize 910 Pounds of High Grade Marijuana During Hotel-Motel Interdiction

Laredo, Texas – On Monday, August 30th, 2010, at approximately 8:30 p.m., An investigation by the Webb County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration led to the interdiction of narcotics at a local hotel.
The seizure occurred at the 5900 block of San Bernardo. Upon arrival, officers discovered 912 pounds of marijuana stashed in the cab of a tractor trailer while it was parked at the hotel. The marijuana had an estimated street value of $461,472. Six subjects were detained at the scene. This investigation is ongoing and arrest are pending.
“This is a significant amount of marijuana that was taken off the streets by two agencies working together. This effort on our officers avoided these drugs from reaching the community”. Sheriff Martin Cuellar stated.
