The Broncos hit two three run homers and cruise to 12-4

(August 13th, LAREDO, TX)-The Broncos used two three run homers to climb out to a big lead and defeat the Thunder 12-4 in game three of the series. The Broncos now sit just one game back from third place in the United League, behind the White Wings and the Colts who are tied for third 8.0 games back of first.
The Broncos, only two games back of third place in the United League sent United League leader in strikeouts RHP Santo Hernandez (7-3) to the mound to try to win the series against the Coastal Bend Thunder. Pitching for the Thunder was RHP J.J Trujillo (5-6), making his second start against the Broncos in 2010. A lead off walk issued to Mike Lewis by Santo Hernandez led to a Thunder run in the top of the first. Lewis stole second base and moved to third on a Ron Fenwick single. Mike Goss brought home Lewis with an RBI ground out and the Thunder took the lead.
The Broncos wasted no time in retaking the lead from Coastal Bend. Jason Diaz reached on an error to start off the bottom of the first. Maiko Loyola dropped a sacrifice bunt down and moved Diaz over to third base. D.J Dixon brought Diaz home with an infield single and the score was 1-0 Broncos. Salvador Paniagua, two batters later, hit an RBI single to score Dixon and give the Broncos a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the second the Broncos added a run to their lead. Diaz again reached on an error charged to the Thunder. Diaz then stole second, his 35th stolen base of the year. Maiko Loyola brought him home with an RBI single and the Broncos took a 3-0 lead.
Patty Matera hit a solo home run, his second of the year, in the top of the fourth to cut the Bronco lead to 3-2.
The Broncos blew the game open in the bottom of the fifth with four runs in the inning. Jonel Pacheco walked, stole second moved to third on a Cisneros ground out and scored on a passed ball to give the Broncos the 4-2 lead. After a back-to-back walks issued to Paniagua and Mahin, Carlos Arroyo hit a three run homer to give the Broncos a 7-2 lead.
In the top of the fifth against Hernandez, with two out Mike Goss walked. Patty Matera then reached on an error and Lamar Guy hit an RBI single to make the score 7-3 Broncos.
In the bottom of the sixth the Broncos put any doubt of a Coastal Bend comeback out of their minds. Loyola led off with a double and moved to third on a D>J Dixon groudout. A wild pitch brought Loyola home from third and the score was 8-3 Broncos. A walk to Pacheco followed by a single by Cisneros put runners on second and third after an error was charged to left fielder Dustin Smith that allowed both runners to move up. Another wild pitch brought Pacheco home to make the score 9-3 Broncos and after a walk to Paniagua, Nick Mahin hit his ninth home run of the year bringing all three home and giving the Broncos the 12-3 lead.
Patty Matera homered again in the top of the eighth to make the final score 12-4 Broncos.
