16th Annual Fishing Derby Set for Saturday

Preparations are almost complete for this year’s 16th Annual Fishing Derby at “El Ranchito” located at Casa Blanca State Park. The popular annual event allows physically and mentally challenged children the opportunity to experience the thrill and fun associated with fishing in the great outdoors and is hosted every year by Webb County Judge Danny Valdez, the City of Laredo Parks and Leisure Services Department, the Laredo Young Lawyers Association and Texas Parks and Wildlife.
This year’s participants have already registered through their school administrators at LISD and UISD.
This year’s event will take place Saturday, May 22, at the “El Ranchito” at the Casa Blanca State Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The annual Fishing Derby is made possible by the countless volunteers and sponsors who contribute their time and donations.
