Career Car Thief Arrested by LPD Auto Theft Detectives

On April 16, 2010, at 1:51am, a male subject by the name of Juan Antonio Lopez was arrested at the intersection of Water and Convent and was charged with outstanding arrest warrants for Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle-SJF (2 counts) (two separate cases). Bond was set at $50,000 for each count set by J.P. H. Liendo.
On February 26, 2010 a victim reported their 2004 Dodge Ram pickup stolen from 1120 Grant. Auto Theft Unit Investigators conducted an investigation and was able to obtain evidence and information from various sources which indicated that Juan Antonio Lopez as the person responsible for the car theft.
Warrant #10076 was obtained from J.P. H. Liendo’s office and bond was set at $50,000.
On April 7, 2010 a victim reported their 2004 Dodge Durango stolen from 100 Convent. Auto Theft Unit Investigators conducted an investigation and were able to obtain evidence and information from various sources which indicated that Juan Antonio Lopez as the person responsible for the car theft. Warrant #10075 was obtained from J.P. H. Liendo’s office and bond was set at $50,000.
This investigation and arrest was made possible through the combined efforts of the United States Customs Service, the Laredo Police Patrol Division and the Laredo Auto Theft Task Force particularly Inv. Gordon Jarrell and Inv. Jose Perez.
Juan Antonio Lopez has been arrested 9 times in the last 3 years for auto theft crimes.
