The Dryden Park Improvements project began with the acquisition of a lot adjacent to the existing park.  This acquisition allowed for the expansion of the park and the design and construction of a toddler baseball field, parking lot, and retaining wall.

Other improvements include the construction of a press box for the existing little league field, installation of a playground module, park benches, construction of a 5-foot wide walking trail, landscaping and an irrigation system.

The new amenities will complement the existing baseball fields and make the park more attractive to all local community residents.

The total project cost is $473,336. This project is funded with Community Development Block Grant funds provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  The contractor was CG Construction and the engineer for the project was Harry Jewett Associates.

Celebrating the project were numerous Community Development staff members, joining City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas and District II Council Member Hector Garcia, in whose district the park is in, as well as Parks & Leisure Services Director Osbaldo Guzman; Assistant City Manager Jesus Olivares; Assistant Parks & Leisure Services Director Clarissa Rangel-Paredes; Assistant Community Development Director Arturo Garcia, as well as additional CD and Parks staff.
