LISD campuses to Celebrate Martin Luther King Day

Laredo ISD campuses will celebrate the birth, the life, and dream Dr. Martin Luther King. On Monday, January 18, teachers throughout the district will be educating students through various activities on the significant contributions King made to our country.
Dr. Diana Linn, assistant professor of education at Texas A&M International University will talk about Kings impact on civil rights. Following the presentation students will participate in several activities on segregation and discrimination. King’s famous “I have a dream” speech will be recited by students at Ryan Elementary School at 8:30 a.m.
J.C. Martin Elementary pre-k students will observe the day by holding a flag raising ceremony at 9:00 a.m.
Dovalina Elementary students will participate in organized reading and video activities throughout the day.
