Oversize Truck Loads coming to Webb County Wind Farm Project on FM 2050

LAREDO – Due to the future construction of a Wind Farm (Cedro Hill) Project located 12 miles south of US 59 on property west of FM 2050 in southeast Webb County, oversize tractor-trailer loads will be traveling into Webb County through adjoining Duval County and beyond bringing components for construction of giant wind turbines that will eventually generate electricity for public consumption. The Edison Mission Group on behalf of Cedro Hills, LLC is responsible for this non-TxDOT project.

Beginning January 11, 2010 through April 9, 2010, oversize loads will come westbound along US 59 and turn south along FM 2050. Traffic traveling north (from SH 359) along FM 2050 should use caution due to these oversize loads.

Truck escorts will be coordinating traffic control. Delays may be expected up to 30 minutes as one way traffic control will need to be implemented when the oversize vehicles are delivering equipment.  Nine oversize vehicles will be delivering per day and will progress to 18 oversize vehicles per day in the coming weeks.

Routes of choice will be SH 44 from Corpus Christi through San Diego to FM 2050, and SH 359 north to FM 2050 in Webb County. IH 37 to US 59 through Freer to FM 2050 will also be utilized.

The traveling public is asked to slow down, expect delays, drive with extreme caution and observe all safety signs and traffic control devices.
