H1N1 Mass Vaccination Clinic

Courtesy Xochitl Mora,

Laredo, TX – The City of Laredo Health Department (CLHD) administered 2,000 vaccines at the first mass vaccination clinic held at the Laredo Entertainment Center (LEC) yesterday, November 9, 2009.  Many Laredoans came out and took advantage of the clinic.

We want to thank the community for their continued cooperation in coming out and vaccinating themselves and their loved ones.  The CLHD expects to be receiving more vaccine within the coming weeks.  We continue to urge the public to ask their medical provider for the vaccine, especially those with underlying health conditions requiring the injectable vaccine.

The CLHD continues to offer the H1N1 intranasal vaccine at the health department’s flu clinic.  Any healthy person between the ages of 2 to 49 can come and get vaccinated against H1N1, as long as quantities last.  The flu clinic is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Please enter through the Maryland new addition to access the flu clinic.  Al l children who participate in the WIC program and their siblings can also get vaccinated through WIC clinics.

The City of Laredo Health Department continues to work with both school districts in setting up clinics for their students.  The H1N1 vaccine will be administered to students of both school districts, based on the priority groups provided by the Centers for Disease control and Prevention (CDC).  We continue to wait for more vaccine.  As soon as more vaccines are available we will also be organizing public clinics within all the counties we serve which are, Jim Hogg, Duval, Zapata and Webb.
