Arrest Made in 17th Homicide of the Year

On Saturday, October 24, 2009, at approximately 2:55 am, the Laredo Police Department Communications Section received a call of a shooting in progress by 8500 block of Rock Springs. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered a lifeless body, later identified as Daniel Perez Jr.,02/07/77, lying on his back in the front yard of the residence. A second male victim had been shot in his left thigh. The injured man was transported to Doctors Hospital for treatment. The crime scene was secured by the Patrol Division and Laredo Police CAPERS Investigators were called to the scene. At approximately 4:45 am, Webb County Medical Examiner Corinne Stern arrived at the scene and pronounced Perez dead. Through the course of the investigation it was determined that the victims and the assailants were at a bar on the 55100 block of McPherson Ave. The victims left the bar and drove to Rock Springs for a get together when three assailants drove up and began to argue with the victims. Then one of the assailants pulled out a gun and then shot and killed Perez and wounded the second victim. Vehicle descriptions were given and other clues as to the possible identity of the alleged assailants.
Homicide detectives and Criminal Investigations Divisions interviewed several key persons of interest throughout the week. On Wednesday, October 28, 2009, Investigators secured arrest warrants against the following subjects:

Warrants were issued by JP Ramiro Veliz.
Suspect Jose Alfonso Pedraza was served with above-mentioned warrants on 10/28/09 and is in the Webb County Jail under the bond listed above.
Ancira is due to turn himself in to Police according to his legal representation, but has not done so at time of this release.
