Local High School Student Completes Basic Training

  U.S. Army Reserve PFC Adrian Campos recently graduated from basic training at Fort Knox in Louisville, Ky..  Campos a Martin High Senior and Tiger Battalion Commander is currently completing his high school graduation requirements.

 Over the course of eight weeks, recruits learned about the Seven Core Army Values, how to work together as a team, and what it takes to succeed as a soldier in the U.S. Army.  Recruits received physical training and participated in drills, ceremonies, and field exercises while learning the importance of teamwork.  Through rifle marksmanship training and rappelling exercises recruits learned new skills and developed the confidence it takes to become a soldier. The recruits also participated in weapon training and night infiltration course.

 After completing basic combat training, graduates embark on Advanced Individual Training (AIT).  Every weekend, Campos has continued his AIT with the US Army Reserve Support Service unit stationed here in Laredo.  While here in Laredo, he is being drilled in mechanics, truck driving, and transportation. 

 Once Campos graduates from high school, he will continue his AIT for eight weeks before he returns to his home unit in Laredo. Campos will continue his education with the Montgomery GI Benefits Program.  He plans on attending TAMIU University to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice.

 He is the son of Juana Campos and Albert Ramirez of Laredo.
