City of Laredo Issues Weather Notice for Solid Waste Collection

Courtesy Isabel Sosa,

LAREDO, Texas— Due to the forecast of severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, and possible flooding in the Laredo area, the City of Laredo Environmental & Solid Waste Department is asking residents to take precautions with their Willie Bote (green bin) and Billie Bote (blue bin) to help prevent damage, displacement, and blockage of storm drains.

Residents are strongly encouraged not to place their bins at the curb ahead of their scheduled collection. Strong winds and heavy rainfall may cause bins to be blown away, damaged, or displaced. Loose bins and their contents may also enter and block storm drains, potentially contributing to localized flooding and contamination.

At this time, Solid Waste collection is scheduled to continue as planned; however, services will depend on weather and roadway conditions. Residents should secure their bins immediately after collection.

The City will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as necessary. Any changes to collection schedules or other important notices will be shared through the City of Laredo’s official social media channels, the Environmental & Solid Waste Department’s website, and local media partners.

The City appreciates the community’s cooperation in helping keep streets and storm drains clear and reducing potential impacts during severe weather.
