LAREDO, Texas – As the community prepares to celebrate the Fourth of July, the City of Laredo unveiled the Moises Jaimes Walking Trail at Independence Hills Park.

Held just days before Independence Day, this special dedication served as a powerful reminder to celebrate responsibly and reject celebratory gunfire. The ceremony honors the life and memory of Moises Jaimes while reinforcing the City’s ongoing commitment to promoting gun safety awareness and protecting lives.

The walking trail was officially renamed following City Council action recognizing the tragic circumstances surrounding Mr. Jaimes’ passing and reaffirming the importance of educating the public about the dangers of celebratory and reckless gunfire.

Through this lasting tribute, the City hopes to encourage residents to make safe choices and remember that every celebration should end with loved ones safely at home.
