Ramos Sentenced to 6 Years

(Laredo, Texas)-The District Attorney’s Office reports that a jury of 8 women and 4 men in the 406th District Court has found Jose Ramos GUILTY of Intoxication Manslaughter w/vehicle.
This case came to light on November 23, 2022 when the Laredo Police Department responded to a call for an auto-cyclist accident at the intersection of E. Saunders and McPherson Rd. Upon arrival LPD observed a male subject laying on the street unresponsive.

Male was identified as Carlos Roberto Garza. Garza was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and later passed away due to the injuries sustained from the accident.
The trial, which took place before the Honorable Judge David E. Garcia was presented to a jury over the course of six days and rendered their guilty verdict after 2 hours of deliberation.
Punishment phase followed and after 1 hour of deliberations the jury assessed punishment at 6 years to serve in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Correctional Institutional Division and a $10,000 fine. 406th District Court Chief ADA Cristal Calderon, ADA Carlos Garza, ADA Mario Guerra and 49th District Court Chief Jose Rodriguez prosecuted the case for the State of Texas.
