LAREDO, Texas – The City of Laredo and Mayor Dr. Victor D. Treviño will host the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Buena Vista Sports Complex, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. The complex will help transform South Laredo in a regional sports destination.

The Buena Vista Sports Complex represents a major investment in sports tourism, youth athletics, and quality-of-life amenities for residents. Spanning approximately 200 acres, the complex includes turf fields for baseball, softball, soccer, and football, sports-level lighting for evening play, and future amenities.

Last week, City Council approved to name the Championship Field at the complex in honor of the late City of Laredo Parks & Recreation Director Juan Jose “J.J.” Gomez Jr., recognizing his leadership, dedication, and lasting contributions to the project and to the community.

The Buena Vista Sports Complex stands as a milestone for South Laredo and reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to economic development, recreation, and community well-being.

The Buenavista Sports Complex is located East of Cuatro Vientos Road & Bob Bullock Loop 20, between Lomas Del Sur Blvd. and La Pita Mangana Rd.
