LAREDO, TEXAS – During the City Council meeting held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Mayor Dr. Victor D. Treviño and the Laredo City Council proudly presented a special recognition to Damaris Morales, a talented and passionate Laredoan whose voice is reaching international audiences.

Ms. Morales was recently selected as one of 48 semifinalists worldwide in the “México Canta por la Paz y Contra las Adicciones” competition, an initiative launched by the Government of Mexico to promote healing, socially conscious music, and raise awareness about addiction prevention. Her participation highlights not only her musical abilities but also her unwavering commitment to positive social change through the arts.

The Council emphasized the significance of celebrating local residents who represent Laredo with integrity and creativity on broader platforms. Morales’s recognition serves as a reminder of the extraordinary talent within our city and the importance of encouraging youth, artists, and changemakers who reflect the values of compassion, perseverance, and community pride.
