City of Laredo Honors Outstanding Community Members During City Council Meeting

LAREDO, TEXAS – During Monday’s City Council meeting, Mayor Dr. Victor D. Treviño and the Laredo City Council proudly recognized a series of exemplary individuals and groups for their remarkable accomplishments and service to the community.

·Among those honored were Zoe Castaneda and Luis Ivan Zapata Espinoza, students at Harmony School of Innovation–Laredo, who were selected to participate in the prestigious National Youth Leadership Forum: Pathways to STEM at Rice University. Hosted by Envision by World Strides, the forum provided them with immersive experiences in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
·Also recognized was Manuel Christian Cardenas, a Laredo native and U.S. patent holder, whose innovation and achievements are a source of pride and inspiration for our city.
·The Mary Help of Christians School 5th Grade Boys’ Soccer Team was commended for their outstanding achievement in winning the 2024–2025 championship title. Their perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship set a strong example for our youth.
·In acknowledgment of decades of service, Castellano & Carpenter Dental Associates were honored for more than 30 years of contributions to Laredo’s health and wellness community.
·The Laredo Fire Department received a heartfelt recognition for their courageous deployment as part of the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force (EMTF) in response to the Kerrville flooding recovery operations, which took place from July 20 to August 13, 2025. Their swift action, medical expertise, and unwavering commitment to public safety played a vital role in supporting local emergency efforts during a time of great need.
Their selflessness and professionalism not only reflect the highest standards of service but also embody the spirit of compassion and solidarity that defines our City of Laredo.
Lastly, the Laredo 7U All Stars were celebrated for bringing home the 2025 Pony South Zone Pinto-7 World Series Championship, once again putting Laredo in the national spotlight.
