LAREDO, TEXAS – On May 2, 2025, the 406th District Court of Webb County dismissed a case filed by Alfonso I. “Poncho” Casso against the City of Laredo, its Mayor, a Council Member, City Manager, and City Attorney in their official capacities. The court found the case did not meet the legal requirements necessary to proceed as a civil matter.
In the original filing, the plaintiff alleged violations of the City Charter related to the upcoming bond election scheduled for May 3, 2025. However, the City of Laredo had not been formally served with the lawsuit before it was publicly distributed by the plaintiff via media and social platforms.
“The City of Laredo appreciates the court’s decision to dismiss this case. As always, we remain committed to transparency, to following the City Charter, and to making information about public matters like the bond election readily available to our residents,” said Mayor Dr. Victor D. Treviño. “This ruling only reinforces our commitment to continue focusing on what matters most—serving the people of Laredo.”
The City reiterates that all public communications regarding the upcoming bond election have been factual and consistent with the obligations outlined in the City Charter.
