Laredo, Texas – During the City Council meeting held on Monday, May 5, 2025, the City of Laredo proudly recognized two remarkable youth groups for their dedication, leadership, and accomplishments in their respective fields. Council Members Ricardo “Richie” Rangel and Dr. Tyler King presented proclamations to Team Desire of Karma Athletics and Girl Scouts Troop 07043, applauding their contributions to our community and celebrating their continued pursuit of excellence.

Council Member Ricardo “Richie” Rangel honored Team Desire of Karma Athletics for their outstanding dedication, teamwork, and passion. Formed in July 2024, this team has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence — training on weekends, holidays, and beyond — and has proudly earned top awards at prestigious competitions, including:

JAMFEST – Superior
ACA – Superior with Golden Ticket
NCA – Superior
NCA All Stars – Superior
ACA US Finals – Ranked Number 1
Their achievements are a testament to the discipline, spirit, and resilience of Laredo’s youth athletes.

Council Member Dr. Tyler King recognized Girl Scouts Troop 07043 for their continued commitment to building courage, confidence, and character through impactful community engagement. The troop exemplifies the Girl Scouts’ mission: “to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.” This recognition extends to the seven exceptional troop leaders — Alessandra Chacon, Lucero Garza, Yulissa Leal, Andrea Sepulveda, Grace Snyder, Devorah Karren, and Ryan Reyes — whose mentorship has helped create a nurturing and empowering environment where girls can thrive and lead with purpose.

These recognitions reflect the City of Laredo’s ongoing commitment to uplifting youth programs and community leaders who invest in the future of our city.
