(Laredo, Texas)- South Laredo’s Suga Show Basketball Team wins its first game of the 2024 Winter Season in a thrilling come from behind victory against the always tough Trifecta Basketball Team whom started strong right of the offset of the game.
Trifecta along with one of the premiere three point shooters Ricardo Ricky Arana led for the most part of the game at one time taking a 20 point lead in the first half.

Arana and company had Suga Show with its back against the wall as Suga struggled to keep Trifecta from scoring. At the end of the half the scoreboard marked an 11 point lead for Trifecta with the score 46-35 in their favor.

After a few adjustments were made on defense Suga Show managed to inch closer limiting the potent Trifecta scoring at bay so that they themselves could get their offense going.

Jesus Fraga and his brother Edgar Fraga led the charge for Suga Show both offensively and defensively to help keep them in the game leading Suga Show in scoring with 14 points for each of the brothers.

Anthony Merino sinks 12 points of his own coming into the game midway into the first half with his defensive play being a huge factor in stopping Trifecta’s scoring.

Suga Show’s big men Jonathan Bravo, Louie Ibarra, and E.J. Palacios came up strong after a slow start to dominate the boards with much needed rebounds then scoring off those offensive rebounds to help cut Trifecta’s lead.

Bravo finishes his night with 11 points while Ibarra finishes with 10. E.J. Palacios who is a natural shooting guard steps in to fill the void left by Jerry Garcia who has yet to see action on the court this season due to his training for an upcoming MMA fight in the Valley. E.J. Palacios contributes 11 points with nine of those points coming three point shots while securing 8 rebounds.

Mike Robles adds two points to the Suga Show scoreboard before having to leave the game due to an injury. Galexander Mata comes in late in the game to help Suga Show’s defense plugging in the middle alongside Anthony Merino to help prevent Trifecta’s relentless drives. Mata finishes his night with 2 points.

Evelio Rodrigues who is also training for his MMA debut comes into the game in relief of Bravo at the center position securing 3 rebounds. Carlos M Rodriguez steps in defensively to help his teammates hugging the 3 point line to prevent Trifectas three point attempts forcing them to pass.

The final score of the game favored Suga Show 70-63. You can catch the replay of last night’s game at the Laredo Basketball Facebook page we thank Mr. Juan Renteria and page managing partners for recording and archiving league games.
