Suga Show and Trifecta are veteran teams in the A Division yet were both defeated in games in which they were slight favorites.
Team Clutch started off scored first against Suga Show sinking two three-point shots to take an early lead 6-0 within the first two minutes of the first half. Team Clutch showed up not only determined to win but it came in with pin point accuracy at the three point line even driving the ball inside with easy looking layups that hit their mark.
Even though Suga lost the game there are still some positives to show in a great team effort that was missing two of their starters with injuries. Louie Ibarra and Jerry Garcia were sidelined for the initial game which left Jonathan Bravo as the lone starter in a starting rotation that boasts three big players which when in tact dominates the boards with rebounds.
Leading the way for Suga Show in scoring was Anthony Merino who finished his night with 24 points and 3 rebounds.
New team member Jesus Fraga provided Suga Show with the experience that was expected through his play as he finished his night with 14 points.
Josue Casarez had a good night finishing with 13 points nine of those points coming off of 3’s. New team players E.J. Palacios, Edgar Fraga, Miguel Robles, Carlos Rodriguez, and Galezander Mata who scored 3 points Robles in turn scores 2 point all five players saw some action in a game in which all members of the team had time to showcase their talent.
Evelio “Billy” Rodriguez also came into the game to add his physical game play to help a Suga Show defense that seemed to struggle throughout the game.
Coach Joe Martinez who returns for a fifth season with the team does not slip throught the cracks without a bit of second guessing taking full responsibility for the loss as he couldn’t seem to find the right combination of players or defense to stop Team Clutch from scoring.
Jonathan Bravo finishes with 12 points as the lone big man under the rim while securing 10 rebounds. The final score in the game was Team Clutch 77 Suga Show 68.
