Laredo, Texas –The City of Laredo has issued a new Emergency Declaration in response to the continued Boil Water Notice (BWN), which incorporates new emergency measures and Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s October 16, 2024, Emergency Declaration. The boil water notice has been in effect since October 10, 2024, following the detection of E. coli and other harmful bacteria in the public water system.

In coordination with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and Governor Greg Abbott, who issued a water supply disaster proclamation for Webb County on October 16, 2024, the City is working to restore safe drinking water. Investigations, inspections, and water sampling are ongoing to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Residents are asked to cooperate with officials during this process.

Avoid Misinformation

The City urges residents to rely on official channels for updates on the water situation. False or misleading information can create unnecessary fear and disrupt emergency efforts. Please share only credible information to help ensure a smooth response.

This declaration enables the City to access necessary resources and take immediate action to mitigate the ongoing water issue, ensuring the health and safety of residents.

“These emergency measures are necessary made to protect the public health and move towards restoring the public trust. We need to put personal ties and politics aside to put people first. It all starts with the truth”. – says Mayor Dr. Victor D. Treviño
