LAREDO, TX – The City of Laredo Mayor, Dr. Victor D. Trevino, and the Public Information Office, hosted a press conference to proclaim Tuesday, September 17th, as National Voter Registration Day in Laredo, Texas.

Additionally, this occasion marked the official launch of the “Laredo Votes 2024” campaign, a city-wide initiative focused on increasing voter registration and voting turnout in this crucial election year.

The purpose of the Laredo Votes 2024 campaign is to empower the residents of Laredo, ensuring that most of the residents in age-voting status are registered to vote and know the importance of making their voices heard.

This initiative is a collaborative effort by the City of Laredo and Mayor Dr. Treviño to create awareness about voter registration deadlines, early voting, and Election Day. The City of Laredo is committed to helping the community participate in the democratic process and wants to ensure every eligible voter is informed and prepared to vote.

The city-wide campaign will continue until Election Day.

Laredo Votes 2024 will unfold in three phases: Voter Registration, from September 17th to October 7th; early Voting, from October 21st to November 1st; and Election Day, from November 2nd to November 5th. During each phase, the campaign will educate voters and provide critical information regarding registration deadlines, voting locations, and other essential details.

The Laredo Votes campaign will be highly visible throughout the city on billboards, bus stop shelters, social media, newspapers, television, radio, and more.

The ultimate goal is to reach as many residents as possible, ensuring they have the information they need to participate in this election.

One key element of this campaign will be block-walking in districts identified by the Mayor as having lower voter turnout.

A selected group will engage directly with residents, distributing door hangers and sharing valuable information about the upcoming election. Two dates for block-walking events are already scheduled for Thursday, September 19th, and Thursday, October 17th.

The Public Information Office will encourage voters to post selfies with their “I Voted” stickers on social media during Early Voting and Election Day to increase voter participation and community involvement. By doing so, participants could receive a goodie bag filled with items to celebrate their civic duty.

To have this message reach more people, the City invites the community to share all official social media posts, videos, and messaging, including the hashtag “#LaredoVotes2024.”

The Laredo Votes 2024 campaign is an exciting opportunity for the city. It hopes to inspire all Laredoans to take part in this election and make their voices heard.
