(McAllen, Texas)-McAllen Public Library has once again received the prestigious Texas Library Association’s Branding Iron Award which honor inspiring and creative marketing and public relations work and activities for libraries.
The McAllen Public received the award in the Public Library Division of the Fundraising category for its 2023 Fiesta! Casino Fundraiser & Taquiza Night in the annual award competition. This esteemed award recognizes the McAllen Public Library’s exceptional achievement and innovation in fundraising efforts.
Hosted by McAllen Public Library’s Advisory Board, the Fiesta! Casino Fundraiser & Taquiza Night took place on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Main Library, offering sponsorship opportunities for the 2023 South Texas Book Festival. The event featured an exhilarating selection of traditional casino games, a 360° photo booth, a taquiza and an open bar, raffles, a silent auction, and more. Proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships contributed to the success of the 10th Annual South Texas Book Festival.
“We are truly honored to receive this award from the Texas Library Association,” expressed Kate Horan, Library Director. “It is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and creativity of our Library Board in organizing and executing such a successful event. This recognition further inspires us to continue our mission of promoting literacy and fostering community engagement.”
This achievement holds special significance for the McAllen Public Library, following the South Texas Book Festival’s previous win of the TLA Branding Iron Award for Best in Show for the 2021 Wild West Casino Night Fundraiser.
