On Sunday, April 7, 2024, at approximately 1:35 a.m., Webb County deputies responded to a distress call at the 1500 block of Espejo Molina regarding an unresponsive male who exhibited no signs of breathing. Upon arrival, the deputies identified the man as the same individual they had assisted on Thursday. He had symptoms of a potential overdose and immediately initiated life-saving measures. Through the administration of eight doses of Narcan, they effectively resuscitated the individual, thereby saving his life. Subsequently, the individual was transported to Doctor’s Hospital for continued medical care.
“It is crucial for the community to seek help and make these calls when someone’s life is at stake, and it is vital for the individual to receive medical attention. Additionally, I want to caution the community about the potential dangers of consuming drugs, including cocaine, marijuana, heroin and meth that may be laced with fentanyl. It poses a significant risk to your health and safety and it can be fatal. Drug users need to understand and be aware that a tiny spec of fentanyl can kill you.
This year alone Webb County has had nine overdoses, two of which resulted in deaths. If you or someone you know is selling or distributing drugs, call our hotline at 956-415-BUST (2878). If your tip leads to an arrest, you may be eligible for a cash reward,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
