LISD Health Science Camp

LISD’s Health Science/Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program will be hosting a Health Science Camp for LISD middle school students on Monday, October 12, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The camp will be held at the Dr. Dennis D. Cantu Health Science Magnet School at Martin High School located at 2002 San Bernardo.
The purpose of the Health Science Fair is to increase student awareness of LISD’s Health Science Program and to encourage careers in Health Science field.
The camp has been carefully planned and will be conducted under teacher/professional supervision.
During the camp students will take part in sessions that include Physical Assessment, Emergency Respiratory Care (CPR), Physical Therapy, Wound and Injury Care, and EMT or Paramedic training.
The schedule for the camp is as follow:
8:15 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – Welcome and Introductions
9:00a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – Time period I
10:10 a.m. – 11:10 a.m. – Time Period II
11:15 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. – Lunch
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Time Period III
1:10 p.m. – 2:10 p.m. – Time Period IV
2:20 p.m. – Closing remarks and issuance of certificates
The Science Fair will be held in partnership with Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas A&M International University, Laredo Community College, City of Laredo, City of Laredo Fire Department and the Colonia Project M.
