Good observation by a couple of Laredo Police Patrol Officers led to the seizure of $690,940.00 in currency. On 09/27/09, the Laredo Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a Deadly Conduct call at the 2300 block of Bruni Street at approximately 2:30 p.m. While at the scene, the investigation led officers to an address on the 2300 block of Bruni St. where several people were interviewed about the Deadly Conduct incident. While interviewing, patrolman located two Cadillac Escalades and several spent casings on the ground. No one at the residence would claim the two vehicles parked outside the residence. While checking the vehicles, officers observed that the ignition had been tampered with and that the vehicle was parked on a city sidewalk, which is a public right of way. Both vehicles were towed. During the inventory of the vehicles, an open safe and a black backpack containing the U.S. currency were located inside one of the black Escalades.
The currency was seized and both vehicles were transported to the Laredo Police Department. No one was injured in the deadly conduct shooting.
