The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League helped raise $11,000 for WINGS of Laredo at the Pretty in Pink Auction at the Embassy Suites Friday night (Sep 25th).
Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski and Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting were the auctioneers at the event, which featured 12 paintings donated from local artists.
Since January of 2009 the Bucks have had a part in helping raise over $24,000 for WINGS, including donating a total $13,200 from the team themselves.
“It feels good that we can take part in helping raise money for a great organization,” said Ruskowski. “We always want to give back to the community, and this is one big way that we can.”
On January 9th the Bucks donated $10,000 to WINGS, thanks to a crowd of 6,500 fans at the LEC on “Pack the House for Charity” night. In June several current and former Bucks players had a jersey auction and donated $3,200 for WINGS.
WINGS (Women Involved in Nurturing, Giving, Sharing) is a non-profit organization that provides top-quality, comprehensive breast cancer treatment services to uninsured and underinsured breast cancer patients. WINGS has served Central and South Texas for over nine years, and now, WINGS Laredo is the newest chapter to bring these life-saving services directly to the women and men of Laredo.
The Bucks will open their eighth season in the Gateway City on October 24th at the LEC, and will host the 2010 CHL All-Star Game January 13th. For ticket information call 718-BUCK (2825).
