Sheriff’s Office traffic stop leads to discovery of approximately $43,000

LAREDO, TX (Webb County) — On Tuesday, at approximately 9 p.m., a traffic stop by a Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputy at the corner of West Olive Street and Barcelona Avenue led to the discovery of approximately $43,000.
During the on-site investigation, deputies canvassed the area and located a black bag containing US currency. Approximately, $43,000 was found inside the bag.
Jose Alberto Cavazos, 49, was arrested on two outstanding warrants, including burglary of habitation and terroristic threats. He was remanded to the Webb County jail in lieu of a combined bond of $30,000. A second man was detained for questioning and later released.
