Sheriff’s Office Search Warrant Leads to Drug Seizure

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Monday, at approximately 3 pm, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office narcotics unit executed a search warrant at a home on the 300 block of N. Seymour Avenue.

The search warrant resulted in the seizure of 54.2 grams of crack cocaine, 1.7 grams of heroin, and 1.6 pounds of marijuana. The value of the seized narcotics is estimated at $4,240. Additionally, around $10,115 of drug proceeds was also seized from the residence.

Hector Javier Venegas, 52, was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substance felony 2. He was remanded without bond to the Webb County Jail pending magistration.

“The way the cocaine was packaged indicates it was going to be sold and distributed locally, and possibly end up in the hands of our children,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar. “I remind the community to please report any suspicious activities by calling our hotline at 956-415-BUST (2878). You may be eligible for a cash reward.”
