Laredo City Council Appoints Interim City Manager

LAREDO, TEXAS – During yesterday’s Special City Council meeting, Laredo City Council selected Samuel Keith Selman as Interim City Manager. Mr. Selman will serve as Interim City Manager on a 10-month consulting contract. This 10-month period will allow newly-elected Mayor and Council Members from the November 2022 elections to participate in the selection of a new City Manager.

“On behalf of City Council, I want to congratulate and welcome Mr. Samuel Keith Selman to our team as Interim City Manager. I value his commitment to serve in this role during a fast-paced transition. We are confident that Mr. Selman’s expertise, knowledge, and dedication will continue to prosper our objectives as a city and guide us towards successful outcomes,” commented Mayor Pete Saenz.

Samuel Keith Selman is currently retired from the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, where he served as Assistant City Manager in 2019 and Interim City Manager in 2020. He worked for the City of Laredo for 20 years, from 1991 to 2011, as the Director of Planning and Metropolitan Planning Organization, among other positions. Before relocating to Corpus Christi, he also served as City Manager for the City of Clyde, Texas.

“I am very excited to return home and join the City of Laredo team as the Interim City Manager serving both the City Council and the community,” commented incoming Interim City Manager, Keith Selman.
