City, County Confirm New COVID-19 Related Deaths

LAREDO, Texas – The City of Laredo and Webb County have SEVEN new confirmed deaths related to COVID-19. The City and County want to express their most sincere condolences to the families of those who have lost a loved one through this pandemic and want them to know that counselors and teams are available to support them.
· The 887th death of a Webb County resident was a male in his mid-60s. He died on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
· The 888th death of a Webb County resident was a male in his mid-20s. He died on Saturday, August 21, 2021.
· The 889th death of a Webb County resident was a female in her mid-50s. She died on Saturday, August 21, 2021
· The 890th death of a Webb County resident was a female in her mid-40s. She died on Saturday, August 21, 2021
· The 891st death of a Webb County resident was a female in her early-60s. She died on Sunday, August 22, 2021
· The 892nd death of a Webb County resident was a male in his mid-20s. He died on Sunday, August 22, 2021
· The 893rd death of a Webb County resident was a male in his early-60s. He died on Sunday, August 22, 2021
As of 4:00 PM on Monday, August 23, 2021, a total of: 391,209 people have been tested; 49,108 have resulted positive; 742 are estimated active (8/21/2021: 721; 8/22/2021: 730).
Of the 742 active cases:
• 284 cases are below the age of 19
• 338 cases are between the ages 20-49
• 120 cases are above the age of 50
• Of the active investigated, 194 cases are not vaccinated
• 51 total year to date vaccine breakthrough cases
Furthermore, 47,473 are estimated recovered (8/21/2021: 47,233; 8/22/2021: 47,352); 74 are currently hospitalized; 34 of those in the COVID ICU. The hospitalization rate is at 20.00% as of 8/23/21 (8/21/2021: 18.35%; 8/22/2021: 19.27%) and 893 people have died.
Vaccine Statistics:
• Percentage of population 12+ vaccinated with at least one dose: 213,720 (98.98%)
• Percentage of population 12+ who are fully vaccinated: 173,228 (80.23%)
• Percentage of 65+ population Vaccinated with at least one dose: 25,762 (95.69%)
