City, County Confirm New COVID-19 Related Deaths

LAREDO, Texas – The City of Laredo and Webb County have TWO new confirmed deaths related to COVID-19. The City and County want to express their most sincere condolences to the families of those who have lost a loved one through this pandemic and want them to know that counselors and teams are available to support them.

· The 881st death of a Webb County resident was a male in his late-20s. He died on Saturday, August 14, 2021.

· The 882nd death of a Webb County resident was a female in her early-50s. She died on Saturday, August 14, 2021.

As of 4:00 PM on Monday, August 16, 2021, a total of: 382,832 people have been tested; 48,260 have resulted positive; 886 are estimated active (8/15/2021: 910; 8/14/2021: 927). Of the 886 active cases:

• 297 cases are below the age of 19

• 456 cases are between the ages 20-49

• 133 cases are above the age of 50

• Of the active investigated, 367 cases (77.9%) are not vaccinated

• 49 total year to date vaccine breakthrough cases

Furthermore, 46,492 are estimated recovered (8/15/2021: 46,338; 8/14/2021: 46,221); 83 are currently hospitalized; 34 of those in the COVID ICU. The hospitalization rate is at 19.50% as of 8/16/21 (8/15/2021: 19.20%; 8/14/2021: 19.06%) and 882 people have died.
