LAREDO, Texas – The City of Laredo and Webb County have 10 new confirmed deaths related to COVID-19. These confirmed deaths are backlogged cases. The City and County want to express their most sincere condolences to the families of those who have lost a loved one through this pandemic and want them to know that counselors and teams are available to support them.

• The 857th death of a Webb County resident was a male in his early-50s. He died on Sunday, July 18, 2021.

• The 858th death of a Webb County resident was a female in her mid-20s. She died on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

As of 12:00 PM on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, a total of: 361,319 people have been tested; 45,085 have resulted positive; 206 are estimated active (7/15/21: 147; 7/16/21: 152; 7/17/21: 154; 7/18/21: 145; 7/19/21: 146; 7/20/21: 178). Of the 147 active cases:

• 56 cases are below the age of 19

• 118 cases are between the ages 20-49

• 32 cases are above the age of 50

• 85 cases (41.3%) are not vaccinated

• 6 cases are detainees/refugees from one of the detentions/holding centers

• 5 total vaccine breakthrough cases

Furthermore, 44,020 are estimated recovered (7/15/21: 43,891; 7/16/21: 43,914; 7/17/21: 43,951; 7/18/21: 43,971; 7/19/21: 43,983; 7/20/21: 44,002); 31 are currently hospitalized; 13 of those in the COVID ICU. The hospitalization rate is at 6.29% as of 7/21/21 (7/15/21: 4.27%; 7/16/21: 4.15%; 7/17/21: 3.98%; 7/18/21: 3.89%; 7/19/21: 3.63%; 7/20/21: 4.08%; 7/21/2021: 4.63%) and 859 people have died.

Vaccine Statistics:

• Percentage of population 12+ vaccinated with at least one dose: 190,296 (88.13%)

• Percentage of population 12+ who are fully Vaccinated: 158,701 (73.50%)

• Percentage of 65+ population Vaccinated with at least one dose: 25,034 (92.99%)

In order to safeguard legally-protected information, the City of Laredo is not publicly releasing personal or identifiable information regarding any cases as it relates to COVID-19, results or monitoring. Stay home if you are sick and call your doctor. Do not go to the doctor’s office, call them first. If it is an emergency, call 9-1-1. Please continue to do your part in preventing the spread of all diseases. Follow the guidelines below:

• Follow CDC and WHO guidelines and practice physical distancing

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer can be used when soap and water are not readily available

• Wear a mask or face covering (if you are unvaccinated)

• Avoid touching your face

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick

• Stay home when you are sick

• Cover all coughs and sneezes

• Clean frequently-touched surfaces
