(Laredo, Texas)-Claudia Villarreal and Cynthia San Miguel from the Mexican Cultural Institute of Laredo (MCIL), donated 5 laptops to United ISD seniors during a virtual zoom presentation at the district’s boardroom. Fernanda Uribe, representing the Consulate General of México, was also present for the occasion.
The MCIL was created in 1993 at the initiative of the Mexican Consulate, and was reactivated at the end of 1999. Its mission is to promote the splendor of the Mexican culture and traditions in our community through education, cultural arts, and special events. The organization also collaborates with the Consulate General of México on projects that enhance the quality of life for low to moderate-income families. “The laptops were donated to ease financial stress for these five families – and to make certain that their children have the tools to move forward in their education” said Ms. Villarreal.
