United ISD and Special Olympics Collaborate with Healthy Leap Program

Courtesy Lauren Cavazos,

(Laredo, Texas)-The United Independent School District is very excited to work in collaboration with Special Olympics. Our students with disabilities and Unified Champion Schools (UCS) partners are collaborating at the UISD campuses to implement the Healthy Leap program for our students.

Special Olympics provided 132 total bags for our participating students that included a smart bracelet health tracker, water bottle, sunscreen bottle, hand sanitizer bottle and a bag.

These Healthy Leap kits will allow the students continue to stay active and learn about the importance of exercise and a healthy diet.Matias Ydrogo, United ISD Special Education Instructional Coordinator, would like to thank Ms. Britt, Ms. Devine, Mr. Lopez and Ms. Moeller from Special Olympics for the partnership with the United Independent School District. Ydrogo stated, “I want to thank the diligence and hard work of the Adaptive Physical Education (APE) coaches, Cherish Center, District Leaders, Principals, Teachers and Coaches around our district for implementing these great inspiring opportunities to our UISD students.”
