City, County Confirm New COVID-19 Related Deaths

LAREDO, Texas—The City of Laredo and Webb County have confirmed six more deaths in Webb County related to COVID-19. The City and County want to express their most sincere condolences to the families and want them to know that our counselors and our teams are available to support them.
The 164th death of a Webb County resident was a female in her late 80s. She died on Thursday, August 06, 2020.
The 165th death of a Webb County resident was a female in her early 90s. She died on Wednesday, August 05, 2020.
The 166th death of a Webb County resident was a female in her early 80s. She died on Monday, August 03, 2020
The 167th death of a Webb County resident was a female in her mid 40s. She died on Friday, August 07, 2020.
The 168th death of a Webb County resident was a male in his early 60s. He died on Sunday, August 09, 2020.
The 169th death of a Webb County resident was a female in her late 40s. She died on Friday, August 07, 2020.
Stay home if you are sick and call your doctor. Do not go to the doctor’s office, call your doctor first. If it is an emergency, call 9-1-1.
As of 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 09, 2020, a total of 21,655 people have been tested, 12,668 people have resulted negative, 7,888 have resulted positive (4,471 are active), 1,079 test results are pending, 3,248 persons are estimated recovered, 188 are currently hospitalized (73 of which are in the ICU), ten patients are currently admitted at the alternate care site, and 169 have died.
In order to safeguard legally-protected information, the City of Laredo is not publically releasing personal or identifiable information regarding any cases as it relates to COVID-19 testing, results or monitoring.
Please continue to do your part in preventing the spread of all diseases. Follow the guidelines below:
· Follow CDC and WHO guidelines and practice physical distancing
· Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer can be used when soap and water are not readily available
· Wear a mask or face covering
· Avoid touching your face
· Avoid close contact with people who are sick
· Stay home when you’re sick
· Cover all coughs and sneezes
· Clean frequently-touched surfaces
