City, County Confirm 3 New COVID-19 Related Deaths

LAREDO, Texas—The City of Laredo and Webb County have confirmed three more deaths in Webb County related to COVID-19. The City and County want to express their most sincere condolences to the families and want them to know that our counselors and our teams are available to support them.

The 138th death of a Webb County resident was a female in her mid 70s. She died on Thursday, July 30, 2020.

The 139th death of a Webb County resident was a male in his early 60s. He died on Monday, August 03, 2020.

The 140th death of a Webb County resident was a female in her late 90s. She died on Sunday, August 02, 2020.

Stay home if you are sick and call your doctor. Do not go to the doctor’s office, call your doctor first. If it is an emergency, call 9-1-1.

As of 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 04, 2020, a total of 19,534 people have been tested, 11,616 people have resulted negative, 6,921 have resulted positive (5,083 are active), 997 test results are pending, 1,698 persons have recovered, 205 are currently hospitalized (73 of which are in the ICU), seven patients are currently admitted at the alternate care site, and 140 have died.

In order to safeguard legally-protected information, the City of Laredo is not publically releasing personal or identifiable information regarding any cases as it relates to COVID-19 testing, results or monitoring.

Please continue to do your part in preventing the spread of all diseases. Follow the guidelines below:

· Follow CDC and WHO guidelines and practice physical distancing

· Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer can be used when soap and water are not readily available

· Wear a mask or face covering

· Avoid touching your face

· Avoid close contact with people who are sick

· Stay home when you’re sick

· Cover all coughs and sneezes

· Clean frequently-touched surfaces
