(Laredo, Texas)-UISD School officials have established plans to help the 2020 senior class experience their well-deserved graduation ceremonies after the coronavirus pandemic caused schools to close and classes to move online. UISD Administrators have been working closely with their high school principals to move this year’s high school graduation ceremonies to the Bill Johnson Student Activity Complex Football Field located at 5208 Sta. Claudia Lane.
All commencement exercises have been scheduled to take place over the course of four successive evenings during the month of June. Moreover, the District has planned in accordance with the guidelines and restrictions set forth by the Center for Disease Control and state and local government officials. This includes the practice of six foot distancing on and off the field and controlling crowd size in any given area. All students, attendees, and UISD employees will be required to wear a safety mask or similar wrap that covers the nose and mouth. Additional precautions may be taken to protect students, families and District employees.
The UISD graduation schedule for 2020 seniors is listed below. The District recognizes that graduation ceremony dates could change in the event of inclement weather activity. Dates are also subject to change if state or national government edicts place more stringent restrictions on large group activities.
