Child Passenger Safety Inspection Event at TxDOT

LAREDO (September 12, 2009) – Child passenger safety (CPS) seat inspections were conducted today at the Texas Department of Transportation Laredo district facility on Loop 20. The purpose of the event was to perform safety inspections on child safety seats and to instruct parents how to properly install child car passenger seats. Approximately 46 vehicles and 50 children were processed through the inspection stations. Thirty nine seats were replaced due to child car seat recalls, date
expirations and/or faulty and unsafe child seat factors.
TxDOT is sponsored the event in collaboration with participating agencies: Babies R Us. Office of the District Attorney for Webb and Zapata Counties, Doctors Hospital of Laredo, Laredo Police Department, Laredo Fire Department, Laredo Health Department, Laredo Independent School District, Nenita’s Schoolhouse, Safe Kids Val Verde County Coalition, Texas Department of Family Protective Services, Texas Department of State Health Services Safe Riders, Texas Migrant Council and Webb County
Sheriff Department.
