Laredo, TX (Webb County) – Webb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies on Friday arrested two subjects for possession of controlled substance northbound on Loop 20.

Deputies observed a black Infinity SUV bearing paper tags traveling south on the Loop and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. They made contact with the driver, who identified himself as an Uber driver. Deputies then asked for identification of the two passengers in the vehicle. They were identified as Jose Alan Aguillon Quintanilla, 29 out of Monterrey, Mexico, and his wife Kateryn Verenice Armendariz Robledo, 27.

Deputies escorted the driver out of the vehicle outside and asked him if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle, to which he replied “no” and consented to a search.

The two passengers were then escorted out of the vehicle and were advised that a search was going to be conducted, to which Jose Quintanilla refused a search of his bags. A K-9 officer was requested to conduct a search of the vehicle. K-9 Brix alerted to three luggage bags located between the two passengers. The bags were removed from the vehicle and K-9 Brix alerted again to a pink luggage bag which contained 5 black wrapped packages containing a crystal clear substance. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine and was worth an estimated street value of $100,000.

Both Aguillon Quintanilla and Armendariz Robledo were charged with possession of control substance felony 1 (Methamphetamine) and remanded to the Webb County Jail with a $50,000 bond each.

“I congratulate our deputies for a job well done. These drugs could’ve ended up in the hands of our children. I remind everyone to report any suspicious activities by calling 956-418-BUST (2878,)” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
