New location will provide a more customer-oriented environment

LAREDO, Texas— The City of Laredo’s Building and Planning departments will have limited services on Friday, March 13, 2020 as they relocate to their new offices at 1413 Houston Street. Beginning Monday, March 16, both departments will be fully accessible at the new location. Any person who has business with either of these departments is advised to expect additional wait times on Friday, or visit them at their new offices beginning Monday.

Along with ensuring the new office space puts customers’ needs at the forefront, the departments recently implemented two new customer service systems that aim to reduce wait times and improve staff efficiency, creating a better and more professional experience for everyone.

Their newest system, QLESS, is a mobile application that allows visitors to schedule appointments in advance, or join the waitlist before they arrive. Appointments are available for planning and zoning, code enforcement, residential and commercial plan review, residential and commercial driveway, geographic information systems, utility coordination, engineering and certificate of occupancy. Visitors will continue to have the option to call and schedule an appointment or check if walk-in appointments are available.

In addition to that, the departments are now utilizing Selectron, an automated voice response system, to schedule and view inspection results. The service can be reached 24/7 by dialing (956) 794-1660. Callers will need their permit number, sub-permit number and inspection code details to process their requests through the system.

Visitors can expect a greater level of detail in regards to customer satisfaction during their appointments. One of the key additions to the new office space is the inclusion of various conference and meeting rooms that are available for visitors to privately discuss any questions or matters they may have regarding the reason for their visit. This allows visitors to feel confident the information they are sharing and their requests are confidential.

For more information on services from the City of Laredo Building and Planning departments, call (956) 794-1625.
