Congressman is committed to working across party lines to ratify  trade agreement

Mexico City, Mexico– Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) spoke at the “Building a More Competitive U.S.-Mexico Border” Conference in Mexico City about the U.S Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA). During last year’s conference, the Congressman received the ‘Friend of the Americas’ Award by the Border Trade Alliance for his leadership and commitment to increasing the economic and cultural relationship between the United States and Mexico.

“There is too much at stake for us to not pass this trade agreement,” said Congressman Cuellar. “Mexico and Canada are by far our largest trading partners, with commerce between our countries supporting 12 million American jobs. The USMCA will bolster all aspects of the economy, from small Texas beef and cotton farmers to big name manufacturers. As the Chairman of the U.S.-Mexico Interparliamentary Group, I will continue to work with Congress and the Administration to pass the USMCA for American workers, famers, and consumers. I want to thank the Mexico Border Trade Alliance, U.S. Border Trade Alliance, and Woodrow Wilson Center’s Mexico Institute for hosting this important discussion, as well as for their work in helping us pass this trade agreement.”
