Man Sentenced to 10 years for Violating his Probation

(Laredo, Texas)-Gilberto Guadalupe Villarreal has been sentenced to 10 years to serve for violating his felony probation in the 111thDistrict Court.

On March 31, 2019, the Laredo Police Department Communication Division received a call reporting shots fired by an apartment complex on the 4300 block of Santa Maria Avenue. The officers led an investigation that revealed Gilberto Guadalupe Villarreal as the person of interest. During a search of his brother’s residence, officers recovered two empty gun cases, a rifle and other items belonging to Villarreal.

On April 9, 2019, Gilberto Guadalupe Villarreal was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, a third-degree felony in the State of Texas.

During his motion to revoke hearing, the State presented evidence of Villarreal’s continuous danger to the community if left on probation. Villarreal was sentenced to 10 years to serve, before the 111th District Court Judge Monica Notzon.  Villarreal is pending murder charges stemming from this arrest.

Assistant District Attorney Estrella Ramirez prosecuted the case for the State.
