(Laredo, Texas)- Recently, the J.B. Alexander High School Student Council sponsored a food drive for federal employees who required assistance in the aftermath of the government shutdown that ended during the latter part of January. The canned goods and non-perishables were turned over to the South Texas Food Bank for distribution.
Student Council sponsor Elizabeth Peña said that she was proud of the students for going above and beyond to help others in the local community. “These students work very hard in their scholastic and extracurricular endeavors, so I am proud of them for stepping up and donating some of their time to collect food for our federal employees” said Peña.
